VISITING: BHUBANESHWAR - PURI - BHUBANESHWAR

 

Day 01/ BHUBANESHWAR:


Arrive Bhubaneshwar.

Assistance on arrival and transfer to your hotel. Check-in time is 12 noon.

Bhubaneswar, capital city of Orrisa in India, is very well known for the temples and shrines. The city can also be called as ' Temple Metropolis of India'. The city boasts of more than 500 temples. Although there was a time when the city had more than 7000 temples and shrines. Some of the temples are more than 2000 years old. These temples exemplify the art and architecture of ancient and medieval India. The construction dates back to 3rd century B.C. to 16th century A.D.

Day 02/ BHUBNESHWAR – PURI:

Morning half day guided city sightseeing tour visitingLingaraj Temple, The Parasuramesvera Temple, Rajarani Temple and Khandagiri & Udayagiri Caves & other places of interest. With 600 temples in its treasure, the city is probable the only city in the world that presents an veritable over-view of the stages of development of Hindu religious architecture. Today these temples are a gentle reminder of the gracious past and the rich heritage of India.Temple is dedicated to Shiva as Lord Lingaraj. The temple represents the peak of achievement in Orissas middle period. The 54m spire of the temple dominates the Bhubaneswar landscape.
Later drive to Puri enroute visiting countryside.

Day 03/ PURI:


Morning guided city sightseeing tour visiting Jagannath temple and Konark temple.
The temple of Lord Jagannath at Puri is one of the major Hindu pilgrimage destinations of India. With its roaring 65 mt high spire, the temple is visible even from the countryside. Decorated with four gates on each side, the temple also has a 16 sided monolithic pillar measuring 11 meters in height, Arunastambh; architectural zenith with exquisite carvings which was brought here from Konark in the 18th century. The temple also has the largest kitchen in the world serving around 10,000 devotees every day.At the end of Grand Road, about 3 km northeast of Jagannath temple, is the Gundicha Mandir. At the time of Rath Yatra festival, Lord Jagannath goes to Gundicha temple and stays there for a week. The city is dotted with numerous other shrines like Narasimha temple and Tota Gopinath temple.
konark Sun Temple.

The Temple City of Konark is situated in the eastern state of Orissa at a distance of around 65 km from Bhubaneswar and 35 km from Puri. Surya - the Sun Temple is a magnificent example of ancient Orissan temple architecture. The temple was built in 1250 AD, during the reign of the Eastern Ganga King Narasimhadeva-I (1238-640 AD). Carved out of black stone the Konark temple is the foremost specimen and one of the most vivid manifestations of Hindu architecture. Though the 'Black Pagoda' is in ruins, the remaining porch area and other structures of this temple complex remain as a jewel in the crown of Orissan artistry.

Day 04/ PURI – BHUBNESHWAR:


Morning drive back to Bhubneshwar and transfer to airport in time to board flight for onward destination. Check-out time is 12 noon.
